It seems your model is really new.

Chowky is currently using x61 and downgraded to window XP. I found no problem on updating the Thinkvantage ( and also found nothing improved after update ).

You should complain to Lenovo on what you are experienced!

It's lucky that my x61 didn't screw up.... I didn't expect it will fail..........it's suprising.
If it screw up, I will spend about a few days to recover everything up. ( apache setting, visual studio 2005 with mobile support, flex builder.......a whole list of applications!)

...............a nightmare.

lenovo system update just totally screwed my half year old notebook. i was updating the box using thinkvantage system update after having updated to vista sp2. now the power management doesn't work anymore, the fingerprint sensor doesn't work anymore either. i can't get any wireless connection anymore. lots of files have been put in the wrong places, e.g. my c:\ now contains a visual studio runtime installation or similar (hundreds of strange files in c:\).

gonna have to re-install vista from scratch, losing all the many installed applications's settings. will take me at least 2 full days. that adds up to labor costs of about 2500 usd. not to mention the blood sweat and tears and missing data.

plain fucking stupid job you did, lenovo!

lenovo, this really sucks. fire your quality assurance manager now! i payed >3000 usd for a high-end lenovo thinkpad ultra-portable notepad. it's my fucking right to expect that the things work as any sane company would make them work. but no, it's lenovo. things don't work as expected.
