比 Flash Media Server ( FMS ) 更強大的 Media Server !?

當然是 commercial licensed server。
為什麼會話比FMS 更強大呢～，
除了支援 flash platform 之外。
還支援了：
- Apple iPhone and iPod touch
- Microsoft Silverlight
- Apple QuickTime
- Set-top boxes and more…
看來都不錯，什麼client 都支援到，一個server 就做到所有的東西，而且又沒什麼大的限制，當然都不是平的呢。
不過計上去應該會平過FMS的呢
BlackBerry Browser 將支援 MS Silverlight 以及flash lite 的content
BlackBerry bowser 新的version 打算支援
silverlight 和flash lite，這個取向其實是節衷的做法，因為既不會得失microsoft 又可以支援flash，雖然可惜的是不是支援flash 10 呢~~，不過不久將來一定會的。
blackberry 的做法正正和iphone 不同的，好明顯是開放的，相反，iphone就暫時resist 加入支援。以免因為flash 的強大令apple 自己獨大的地位不保。

Eclipse for Silverlight
等了這麼久，終於有一點新的silverlight 的消息。
eclipse 打算支援silverlight。(但是xaml 是xml tag ，如果無visual editor好難做)
(chowky 小試visual studio 2008 express，一用wpf，vs2008 的code preview 竟然preview blend的code的時候有錯誤，好像說是bug，不知道fix了沒有?)
XAML Editor & Preview with code hinting and code completion: Eclipse will contain an advanced, standards-compliant XAML editor with code hinting and code hinting features which helps detect and correct coding errors.
會有preview。chowky 覺得都應該可以。
完成時間是spring 2009。現在是夏天….差不多已經完成?
Silverlight UI for Windows Mobile and CE
Silverlight 打算推出手機版，藉此希望可以令更多developer 採用silverlight ，codename “Alchemy”
最重要是alchemy 是standalone 的version，可以不用browser 就可以run.
This is a good strategy from Microsoft. Microsoft is shipping Flash with Windows Mobile as a plug-in (but not standalone Flash Lite). So with Silverlight UI, Microsoft enables and encourages users to learn Silverlight, and hopes that they will take up writing web applications. If they don’t, well Flash is already there. So no matter what happens, they win!

[AIR] Times Reader
又有一個新的AIR application，好明顯air 開始成熟，愈來愈多人採用這種技術。相反，silverlight，完全不覺得有公司採用，chowky認為這場對決差不多打完了。當然chowky 發覺有人表示silverlight target market是和 air 不同。既然好silverlight明顯地輸了，marketing 方面當然”轉駄”。儘量想表示不是直接compete 而是可以共存的，即是各有各優勢。
WPF 出了好幾年，但chowky 亦沒有發現有出名的applications. 只是一些零碎的tutorial 出現。大家若有silverlight 的新apps ，可以介紹給chowky了解一下。

Facebook Desktop for Adobe AIR application
其實一早已經有很多不同的AIR APP hook with facebook.
不過facebook desktop 是利用了新開發的 The Facebook Open Stream API ，看來會有更多的air app 會採用。因為可以完全offline 使用，實現了AIR 的occasionally connected 的feature.
